Our own numbers

Ask Google's AI for a plumber in Dublin and most of what it quotes back is job boards, not firms you can ring. We ran that query on 29 August 2026, and six of the ten sites it cites for "plumber Dublin" are job boards or salary pages, and one working plumbing business makes the list. For "solicitor Dublin", no Dublin law firm appears in the top twelve cited sites and only two reach the top twenty; the AI quotes Citizens Information, the Law Society, Reddit and Wikipedia instead.

So when a customer asks an AI who to hire, the answer often points at a directory instead of at you. The audit checks whether your site gives an AI enough accurate information to name you, and a path it can follow to reach you.

Isn't this just SEO?

It overlaps, and the honest answer has two halves. Google's AI summaries do cost clicks on question-style searches: Pew Research Center tracked 68,879 US searches in March 2025 and found people clicked through to a website 8% of the time when an AI summary appeared, against 15% when it didn't. Ireland is less clear cut. Friday found average click-through across 175 million Irish searches fell from 3.62% in spring 2025 to 2.67% in spring 2026, while ePresence found organic clicks up 0.77% across 55 Irish commercial sites, comparing the same three months a year apart. A number-one ranking is worth less than it used to be, rather than worth nothing. The second half is new work: making sure an AI quotes you accurately when it answers, and that an assistant can get through your booking form on a customer's behalf.

Will it work for my trade?
