Every month, webs.ie gives one small business or meaningful project a professionally built website — designed, built and launched for free. Real value of €2,500+, cost to the recipient: €0. Not a lottery, not a marketing gimmick with an asterisk. A juried selection, read by humans, shipped by the studio.
In June 2026, the first Website Grant went to Peter Dooley — and his new site is already live at peterdooley.ie.
Who is Peter Dooley?
Peter is an independent journalist from Dublin. He records dispatches from the streets of the city — commentary on Irish government, housing, civil rights and the cost of living — and publishes them to a growing audience. By the time he applied, his archive had grown to 748 videos. That is an enormous body of work; it was also his problem.
An archive that size is only as useful as its findability. Individual videos disappear into platform feeds within days. Anyone trying to check what was actually said in a dispatch from months ago had no practical way to search for it.
What we built
Peter's application was exactly what the Grant exists for: a real, active project with a clear need and an obvious payoff.
We designed and built him a focused editorial platform:
- A full media archive — all 748 videos, organised and browsable, with episode pages and topics
- Searchable transcripts — every programme searchable by what was said, not just by title
- An editorial front page — new dispatches, coming events and most-watched pieces in one place
- Newsletter signup — a weekly digest, owned by Peter, independent of any platform's algorithm
- Instant loading — the site runs on Cloudflare's edge network, so it opens immediately
The design is deliberately editorial — closer to an independent newspaper than a video channel. Light and dark modes, strong typography, no clutter. His work carries the page.
How the Grant works
The process for Peter was the same one that applies every month:
- Apply — a short form, about five minutes. No attachments, no pitch deck.
- Review — the webs.ie team reads every application and assesses it on merit, impact and fit.
- Selection — one recipient is contacted after the monthly deadline to confirm scope and kickoff.
- Build & launch — the agreed website is designed, built and launched in roughly seven days from kickoff.
Everyone who applies receives a reply — and anyone not selected is welcome to apply again in a future month.
Why we do this
webs.ie builds conversion-focused websites with AI concierges for businesses that can afford them. The Grant is the other half of that idea: every month, one project that couldn't commission a studio build gets one anyway.
It is not charity theatre. We get to show, publicly and verifiably, what a webs.ie build looks like — and a project that deserves a proper website gets one. The finished sites are live, linkable and real. That is the entire pitch.
The July edition is open now
Applications for this month's Website Grant are open until the end of the month. If you run a small business, an independent practice, a creative project or a nonprofit that needs a focused, professional website — apply here. It takes about five minutes.
One small business. One professional website. €0. Every month.
